Reviving the Blog

Well, I was accepted to the University of Rhode Island’s graduate school, so coming mid july I will be reviving Eastern Standard Time, and hopefully actually making some good contributions that people will find interesting.

What a scary world

I consider myself to be a pretty easy to get along with person, I also tend to see new people as new potential friends rather than people I need to protect myself against. I say this with realistic expectations of course, if someone is acting hostile avoid them.

Last night however, this little kid and his mom were on the subway platform waiting for the same train I was. I think little kids are adorable and as the 5 year old listed off which trains were coming over and over again as they appeared on the screen, I snickered and gave his mom a smile. My intentions were completely innocent and I meant for nothing more than to convey my amusement to his mother. The woman saw my smile, grabbed her son’s hand, and walked further down the platform.

Of course, I don’t know what her history is. Perhaps she or a friend had been mugged or had some other reason to consider me a threat to her or her son, that being the case I suppose she did what was in her best interests. I just wonder why this world has to be that way.
